Horsham Township Municipal Complex
Horsham Township, Pennsylvania
The new 13,000 square foot Horsham Township Municipal Building, which replaced the 60-year old former administration building, was the last piece of a long-awaited puzzle involving several municipal-owned buildings.
This project included the demolition and reconstruction of the administration building, façade improvements to the Community Center (former Public Works building) and improvements to the site vehicular and pedestrian circulation. The new building was constructed in place of the prior building, directly adjacent to the municipal Police Station, which McCloskey & Faber, P.C. was also involved.
Working closely with the Project Architect, Township Engineer, Municipal staff and elected officials throughout the process, from the initial design concepts through construction administration, McCloskey & Faber, P.C. provided review and evaluation of existing trees to remain and Landscape Design services for the entire facility as well as Hardscape Design services for a small courtyard space within the parking lot between the Community Center and Municipal Building. Collaboration with the design team also included input regarding upgrades to site lighting and signage. Plant materials for the landscape design were selected to complement the architecture of the new building, while providing ease of maintenance. Year-round interest has been provided through a selection of foundation shrubs used for their foliage and bloom color, ornamental grasses and groundcovers. Columnar trees were incorporated to provide vertical elements to contrast with the modern horizontal rooflines.
